Welcome to the homepage of Team JPC, in conjunction with Tropicoma, the world's favourite sledgehammer!

Team JPC was formed in 2001 when a group of friends attended the Le Mans 24 hour race as a stag party. A group of 8 people, with nobody apart from the groom knowing any more than three of the other attendees. With ages ranging from the early twenties to the late sixties, the instant friendship and camaraderie was amazing. It was decided there and then that Le Mans would form a regular part of everyone's diary, plans were already being made for 2002 and a team name had to be created.

The staple diet of the group that year, as well as the traditional "stubbies" of course, was meat and red wine! Of all the varieties that were tried, the favoured choice was JP Chenet, a very reasonably priced wine recognised the world over because of the distinctive bent neck. Hence "The Winebenders" were formed. A design for 2002 was born and polo shirts were ordered which the team wore with pride on the ferry on the way over the Channel. All was well until someone staggered over to one of the team and enquired "Winebenders? So what are you then, a bunch of benders who drink wine?"

So a radical rethink was required, and after much deliberation, and much more alcohol, the simple solution of calling ourselves Team JP Chenet, or Team JPC for short was agreed upon.

Since then, Team JPC have attended the 24 Heuers Du Mans every year, building a massive group of friends who we meet with every year on the campsite and around the circuit. Team JPC have also been represented at the 12 Hours of Sebring in Florida, USA, various LMS races across Europe, British GT races including the Tourist Trophy at Silverstone, as well as Le Mans test weekends and the Le Mans Classic.

Come and meet us at the race. These days we will usually be found on Maison Blanche campsite, next to our good friends from Drinking for Holland. Between the two of us we probably have one of the biggest pitches at Le Mans outside of the "corporate" set-ups. If you can't find us, you don't deserve a drink!
